What's in the case
changes by the hour

None of this is on the printed menu. It is baked through the day and sold from the glass — so what you see is what there is.

A tray of cornetti — plain, custard-filled and chocolate — dusted with icing sugar

Cornetti

Plain, crema, chocolate. In the case before six.

Sfogliatelle topped with pistachio cream and chopped pistachio, receding into the display case

Pistacchio

The one people come back for.

Sicilian cassata — small domes of pale green marzipan, each topped with white icing and a glacé cherry

Cassata

Marzipan, ricotta, one cherry.

Sfogliatelle and cream-filled pastries on Le 2 Sicilie branded paper

Sfogliatelle

Ridged, crisp, sweet ricotta inside.

Bomboloni and small tarts filled with crema and topped with strawberry and kiwi

Bomboloni e crostatine

Crema, strawberry, kiwi. Gone by the afternoon.

The savoury shelf — sesame buns, filled rolls and small pizzette

Rustici

The savoury shelf.

Pastry rolls filled with chocolate, nuts and cured meats on a baking tray

Girelle

Sweet and savoury, rolled and baked.

Prices are on the tags in the case, not on this page — they change as the trays do. Come early for the cornetti. Come late and there is usually still cassata.

Le Due

The name

Two Sicilies,
one address

The Two Sicilies was a real kingdom — the island and the mainland, ruled as one. The name suits the place. From six in the morning this is a pastry counter and a coffee bar. By evening the oven is lit and it is a pizzeria. Same room, same family, two entirely different days.

Coffee was great, fresh orange juice better than any other one we had in Malta, and the prices very, very reasonable.

The Sicilian pastries were delicious, and a big variety to choose from. Definitely worth a stop.

Questions

The things people ask

What time does Le 2 Sicilie open?

We open at 6.00 every morning. Monday to Thursday we close at 22.00, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday we stay open until 23.00. The pastry counter is stocked from the moment we open.

Where can I get Sicilian pastries in Bugibba?

At the counter here, on the seafront at 33 Dawret il-Gżejjer. Cornetti, sfogliatelle, cannoli, cassata and bomboloni are baked through the day and sold from the glass case. What is in the case changes by the hour, so the early trays and the late trays are rarely the same.

Do you do pistachio croissants?

Yes — pistachio cream on cornetti and sfogliatelle, finished with chopped pistachio. They are the single most asked-for thing in the case, and they do sell out. There is also a pistachio pesto pasta and the Mortazza pizza with mortadella and pistachio if you would rather have it savoury.

How late do you serve breakfast?

Cooked breakfasts and toasties are served until 12.30. The pastry counter and the coffee machine keep going all day.

How much is a coffee?

An espresso is €1.20 and a cappuccino is €2.00. A double espresso is €2.40. Soya, oat, almond, coconut, hazelnut, lactose-free and skimmed milk are an extra €0.50.

Is there outdoor seating?

Yes. There is seating out on the promenade, front and back, which is where most people sit in summer.

Do you take bookings?

Message us on WhatsApp on +356 9997 3187 and we will sort it out. For a table of two or three you can usually just walk in.

Do you do takeaway or delivery?

Everything at the counter can be taken away. For delivery we are on Wolt and Bolt Food — note that prices on the delivery apps are higher than in the shop.
